Tech&Apps is pleased to give you some new information about the CMS Roadmap. Thanks to all your feedback on the survey last month!
It was no surprise that the new Landing Page template would be the number 1 “most wanted” new feature for the CMS. This is one of the biggest improvements as well, and we will work on it parallel to the other improvements and together with the Digital team.
We have made an initial line-up of developments which we will roll out in the coming months:
1) Social Sharing and SEO options (launch in september):
Currently we are testing the new SEO tab, which will give you the power to adjust Facebook shares, Twitter cards and Google+ shares for all of your pages and articles. This is going to be rolled out by Tony to all sites during september. Read more about this in advance on this google doc.
2) Live-site button: This is a new button on the Pages list that links directly to the page on the live site. (see screenshot attached). This is currently being rolled out to all CMS by Jeff.
3) Switch color theme: In case you haven’t seen the other options for template colors on your web design, check them out in the presentation i shared earlier (slide #7). There is no switch in the CMS but we can easily do this for you if you decide to go with a different color.
4) Cropping of images directly in the image containers.
5) Tracking of all download files, even if the link is from the text box.
6) 2-column Homepage Template (see presentation slide #20).
7) Updating the Text editor to CK-Editor (see presentation slide #15).
8) Custom footer widgets: This will give you the option to replace the footer “promotions tab” by 3 custom columns (twitter feeds or facebook box or anything else).
9) Twitter feed / Facebook box on articles (see presentation slide #16).
We will keep you updated about each of these items. For now you can already prepare for better SEO & Sharing!
